I have just recently graduated, the support from the trainers was excellent. The course work was manageable around my home and work life. Even though I do not have a medical background I found that the course layout was not complicated but at times it did feel like I was doing a medical degree. On completion of the course I was put in touch with NTS and am now doing a two week trial, the process was easy.

I have just finished the course and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to get into this as a career, sometimes the course can be frustrating, but I am 55 and working in a factory, it's time for me to get out of factory work, I have always wanted to be a transcriptionist but couldn't afford to do this course, now Talenmed has made it possible for anyone to do it with the VET FEE help, highly recommended, this was the best choice I have made by far

I don't know why I never considered doing a Diploma of Healthcare Documentation sooner. Hi Finished this course just before Christmas. Due to health reasons, I needed to find another job, (previously I had my own cleaning business), and being able to have a job that I can work from home would be perfect. I have always had an interest in the medical field, and this would be perfect. I loved the course, I did find it quite challenging at times, sometimes I even thought of giving up, but I didn't and now here I am, a Qualified Medical Transcriptionist :-)

I am in the early stages of my training with Talentmed, but I am so impressed with the content and the presentation. I graduated with the Diploma of Healthcare Documentation about a month ago.

Coming from a science background, the course was somewhat easy for me except for the transcription block where it was sometimes challenging to decipher what the doctors were saying on the recordings. That said the course was very easy to follow and all my queries were addressed in a professional manner.

What I love about TalentMed is the constant non-judgemental support they give up to the point of graduation. As I currently have a job, I asked if they were ok for me to approach them for help in transcription job-searching when I decide to gain employment as a medical transcriptionist and they told me they were happy to help. On the phone after my final assessment, my course assessor also told me all the details surrounding employment (eg I will not be on my own at the start and all my work will be checked by a senior transcriptionist; the 'five-year experience' required by employers is waived by completing this diploma) and I appreciate that very much.

I took more than a year to complete the course but that was because I had other commitments - I love how you could do it in your own timing and you could have multiple attempts on assessments (though I did not have to repeat any). I would say most people with full-time or part-time jobs should complete the course within a year, otherwise fastest at six months.

As this diploma by TalentMed is the only one that is officially recognised in Australia for medical transcription, anyone looking for employment in this industry should not hesitate to sign up for this course at TalentMed.

The amount of practice recordings in Block 3 were many a time overwhelming (which is actually a good thing for practice) and some were just too challenging for me (sometimes it's not our fault, it's the poor quality recording from the hospitals or the way the doctors dictate things) and I wanted to just give up all the time, but fortunately most recordings are not too hard, answers are provided after each attempt and being able to complete it in my own timing made me press on to completion. You learn to develop sharper listening skills and your own way of working around challenges in listening when transcribing reports - I treasure this new learnt skill from this course a lot and you will begin to subconsciously apply this even in everyday settings, at work and at home when communicating with others. Additionally, you gain science and medical knowledge, especially how doctors diagnose, manage and treat diseases and patients and who knows when this knowledge could come in handy in your own life! Hence going through this course can truly be a life-changing process.

Time, initiative (eg doing your own research) and perseverance are needed to complete this course, especially for those without a science background, but take everything a step at a time, set small and achievable goals with this course each day (it is ok to take breaks and come back to the course when you feel ready to tackle it again and it is also ok to make mistakes - you learn best from your mistakes), make sure you get enough rest (because alertness and not sleepiness is key to successfully transcribing the dictations), take every step of the course as a new educational experience (don't be overly frustrated and be patient with the process) and you will have gained a brand new skill at the end of the day.

Working online or alone in a healthcare setting is such an ideal job for a person like me and I am happy that I have such a cert in hand so that I can use it if I need to in the future.

As a new mum I wanted to find work that was flexible, and from home! The trainers were absolutely fantastic in supporting, but most importantly the course work is very informative and resourceful to use in future work as well. I have found work before even finishing the diploma and can absolutely say without the course I would have a difficult time understanding a lot of medical terms and the correct processes of transcribing. Highly recommend, especially if you are a fast typer. I now have time to stay with my little one and earn an extra income in the household when I have the time.
