The unit is designed for current and aspiring healthcare workers in administrative roles, including medical receptionists, practice administrators, transcriptionists, billers, and anyone moving into healthcare from another industry. Common students include medical receptionists, practice administrators, transcriptionists, allied health support staff, billers, and people moving into healthcare from another industry. It is also a useful first step before enrolling in a Diploma in Clinical Coding, Healthcare Documentation, or Practice Management.

There are no formal academic prerequisites for BSBMED301. You should be comfortable reading, writing, and using a computer to complete online learning materials. If English is not your first language, we recommend a working level of English equivalent to ACSF Exit Level 3 in reading and writing.

Yes. BSBMED301 is a core unit within HLT57715 Diploma of Practice Management. If you complete BSBMED301 with TalentMed and later enrol in HLT57715, the unit will be credited towards the Diploma. It is also useful preparation, but not a formal credit, for HLT50321 Diploma of Clinical Coding and 11288NAT Diploma of Healthcare Documentation.
